Today’s Credit Play isss…. Turning Voicemails Into Your Secret Weapon – Part 3: THE ONE-TWO PUNCH THAT DOUBLES YOUR RESPONSE
Nowadays, most calls seem to be sales calls…and most emails seem to be unsolicited. Unfortunately, this is precisely why LEGITIMATE voicemails and emails are getting “auto deleted”. Auto deleting means hearing more comments like….“Sorry I didn’t get that message”, or my personal favorite… “Oh sorry, I don’t recall seeing that email”.
When the first voicemail is ignored, lots of people resort to the “one-two punch”. This is where they drop another message AND send an email at the same time. Both things say the same thing and that’s where it goes wrong. If they say the same thing, what’s the point of the voicemail?
With the one-two punch play, the voicemails job isn’t to deliver a message…. Its job is to GET THE EMAIL READ! Movie trailers don’t tell you the whole story…. if they did, no one would ever buy a ticket. The trailer’s role is to tempt you to go watch the movie, and in this case, your voicemail is the trailer, and your email is the movie!
The PROPER way to run a play like this is to craft and bold a concise email, and then drop THIS message…”Hi Susan….I just sent you an email that needs your eyes on it today, the subject line is “FYI”….This is Corey….thanks!” Now, the most important part of this play is to not let that email live in a vacuum! If you want attention to your email, you need to copy both THEIR boss and YOUR boss…. When the bosses get copied, emails get read!
When you run the one-two punch the right way, voicemails have meaning, emails don’t get deleted, and you’ll never hear again….“Oh sorry I don’t recall seeing that email”.
Even the best laid plans can fall apart and even the best voicemails still get ghosted. So, what happens if your first two messages fail to garner any response? In Part 4 we’re going to talk about how each new message needs to tighten the consequences!
